The Coast Guard Foundation has a New California Regional Director of Philanthropy

DRis happy to announce the placement of Linda Naugle as the Coast Guard Foundation’s next California Regional Director of Philanthropy. In her new role, Linda will be key for supporting the brave members of the Coast Guard and their families.

The Coast Guard Foundation was founded in 1969, with the original mission to support the Coast Guard Academy and its cadets, but seeing a greater need, its role has greatly expanded over the last 30 years. On the average day, members of the Coast Guard conduct over 50 search and rescue operations, screen over 350 vessels, and aid over 100 people in distress. With such a large profile, the Coast Guard Foundation committed itself to ensuring that all members of the Coast Guard were cared for. Today, it provides moral, recreation, and wellness equipment to service members, scholarships to Coast Guard members and their families, and bereavement support for families who lost loved ones in the line of duty.

Providing such comprehensive service to cadet, active-duty, and veteran members of the Coast Guard requires a passionate development department that is as committed as the members it serves. The Coast Guard Foundation’s fundraising revenue has nearly doubled in the 4 years, and it was in need of a dedicated individual to serve as a California Regional Director of Philanthropy to further embolden donors.

It was clear that Linda’s knowledge and experience would be invaluable for the Coast Guard Foundation. With over 16 years of experience in fundraising, 6 being on the West Coast, Linda was well-equipped for passionately engaging donors and building expansive donor networks. Most recently, she served as the Director of Development for the University of San Francisco’s School of Management, where she was responsible for personally raising approximately $1.5 million annually. Additionally, she held multiple development roles within the US Fund for UNICEF. Her experience building a West Coast donor base and establishing a regional office in San Francisco for UNICEF was the ideal match for the Coast Guard Foundation’s needs.  She received her B.A. from Bucknell University and her M.A. from Michigan State University.

DRwas honored to assist the Coast Guard Foundation in their vital work and congratulates Linda in her new position.

Having staged more than 150 innovative, vibrant productions, the Shakespeare Theatre Company is the leading premier classical theatre company in the nation. Focusing on works with profound themes, complex characters, and poetic language—written by Shakespeare, his contemporaries, and the playwrights he influenced—STC expands the classic theatre repertoire in America for all audiences. STC has entertained more than 2.5 million audience members, offered high-impact arts education and community engagement programs, and provided a home for today’s leading classical artists and a training ground for the next generation. At the Shakespeare Theatre Company, artists and administrators alike share an impassioned respect for the power of artistic excellence to engage, entertain, and enliven audiences—and to forge community among them. Winner of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, and a leading partner in community engagement within the Penn Quarter and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, STC's quality performances and outreach initiatives require an expansive development department. Its Senior Director of Development would have to not only be a passionate advocate for the arts but also a tireless manager that continuously raises the bar for success. Both Laura's experience and attitude made her the perfect match for Shakespeare. She previously served as a Major Gifts Officer for Smithsonian's Freer & Sackler Galleries of Art, where she secured multiple 6- and 7-figure gifts and most recently led the development team to beat its $6M annual goal by 50% in 2016. Intimately familiar with the arts, her work in performing arts organizations spanned many years, and she served in senior executive positions within the Wheeling Symphony, the Pittsburgh Center for the Performing Arts,  and the Pittsburgh Opera. We wish both Laura and the Shakespeare Theatre Company success in bringing the performing arts to the DC community."
