The Council of Korean Americans (CKA) is the leading independent, nonpartisan, national leadership organization for Korean Americans. As a vibrant national membership organization, CKA connects and aligns Korean American executives and trailblazers across multiple sectors, elevating the leadership skills of our members and promoting greater awareness of the concerns of the Korean American community.

The Council of Korean Americans seeks an energetic development professional with strong individual giving experience and a desire to build new giving programs to support leadership development and advocacy. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board members, the Director of Development and Programs will design and implement a robust major giving program capitalizing on CKAs impressive membership.

An assertive and agile leader, the Director will work well independently and as part of a distributed team. While the Executive Director is based in Washington, D.C., this remote position may be on the West Coast or in the Acela Corridor (D.C. to Boston), where a preponderance of CKA members live. The salary range for this position is $100k-$115k.

Qualifications for strong candidates include:

  • At least five years of frontline experience in individual major gifts fundraising; experience soliciting and closing six-figure gifts preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create successful cultivation and stewardship strategies, including events of differing scales and focus, that lead to long-term donor relationships.
  • Experience partnering with a CEO and Board members to deepen stakeholder engagement and increase investments in an organization.
  • Persuasive written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the gravitas and desire to actively and effectively interact with a wide range of individuals.
  • Experience with Asian American communities and success in fundraising in this space is helpful but not required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; candidates without this credential but with significant individual fundraising experience will be considered.
