Ron Wai

Since co-founding the Mint Health + Drugs community pharmacy brand in 2016, Ron Wai has focused on building a culture driven company with a strong social conscience. His work has included development of non-profit-public-private partnerships with some of Alberta’s most prominent organizations, creating innovative programs which have improved the health of those in the communities they serve.  Mint has become a provincial boutique provider of pharmacy services, ranging from provincial pandemic response teams, to supporting emergency shelters, treatment centres and supportive living facilities. Ron has been instrumental in working with his co-founders to develop Mint Health + Drugs into the unique group of companies that it is today, which includes a provincial network of pharmacies, travel health clinics, a social enterprise (ACE Team), a non-profit (Mint Communities), and a software startup (ARBR).

In addition to strong community partnerships, Ron has directly overseen the people and culture of the organization.  Ensuring leadership in the communities they serve and adherence to its core values have been paramount in their success.  In the last three years he has grown their team provincially from 80 to over 140 employees today. He has also played a strong role in cultivating the next generation of excellence, including mentoring several young leaders and unique teams that have won top pharmacy industry awards from the Alberta College of Pharmacists and Pharmacists Association of Alberta, every year over the last 5 years.  The Mint Health + Drugs culture has also garnered 4 national awards, including a personal award to the Mint co-founders for community service from the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs in 2018, to the nationally recognized Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture Award.
