Michele James

Michele James is the Executive Vice-President, Patient Care Services, Community Partnerships and Health System Integration at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). Her current role is relatively new (since March 2025) In this new role at SHN, Michele continues to oversee several clinical programs and now leads the expansion of strong, transformational community partnerships while ensuring that SHN delivers the highest standard of care to patients. Prior to March 2025, Michele was EVP, People and Transformation at SHN.  Michele provided visionary, executive leadership for People Services (human resources, organizational development, workplace health and safety, wellness).  In 2023, SHN was named one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ and in 2024, Michele was personally named a Canada’s Most Admired Chief People and Culture Officer winner (public sector).  Michele has been part of the hospital’s executive team for over 17 years.  She thrives on providing strategic leadership for breakthrough organizational transformation and culture change.

Michele’s former roles before joining SHN include associate partner in IBM’s health care consulting practice and director in the health care consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. 

She has served on several voluntary, not-for-profit boards over the past 25 years including the Board of Durham College where she served as Chair.  Michele is proud to have been selected as one of the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women for 2020.
