Derek Dobson
Derek Dobson has more than 30 years of experience in the pension industry. Currently the CEO of one of Canada’s most sustainable pension plans, he serves as Co-Chair of the Canadian Public Pension Leadership Council (CPPLC) and sits on the Board of the Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM). He is a member of the Pension Committee of the C.D. Howe Institute and a founding faculty member of the Masters of Trust Management Standards (MTMS) at the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and Pensions (IFEBP).
Derek is a featured speaker at pension conferences and contributing author to Plans & Trusts, Benefits Canada, HR Professional, HR Reporter and the ACPM Observer.
Derek received the 2019 ACPM Industry Award in recognition of his leadership and creativity in addressing the challenges facing the Canadian retirement income system. He continues to advocate for innovative solutions to expand access to sustainable and efficient pension plans.
Derek is an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) with a degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
