Shauna Yohemas
In 2024, Shauna Yohemas stepped into the role of Vice President, People and Culture, after serving as Director, People and Talent Operations at NorQuest College since 2022. Shauna plays a key role in shaping the college’s work environment and fostering a strong organizational culture that reflects the colleges values and purpose. In partnership with her passionate and dedicated team, she leads the development and implementation of culture, development, and talent management strategies. These efforts are focused on continuing to position NorQuest to achieve its strategic outcomes as a purpose-driven employer of choice, while striving to be an adaptive and inclusive organization through a people-first approach.
Prior to joining NorQuest, Shauna provided oversight to the human resources function at other post-secondary and private organizations. She brings 15 years of human resources experience as well as seven years of leadership experience gained prior to specializing in human resources. Shauna also shares her experience with various non-profit organizations through participation in volunteer opportunities and board leadership.
Shauna is a strategic and progressive leader with a passion for facilitating exceptional employee experiences by helping leaders to create the conditions where people are highly engaged and able to do their best work. She feels that this approach leads to the achievement of exceptional organizational outcomes and impacts. Shauna actively seeks out opportunities to create an inclusive and supportive workplace, where every individual can thrive.
Shauna holds a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University. In her studies, she explored how organizations can benefit by incorporating polarity thinking to leverage the best of seemingly opposite alternatives in decision-making. She also studied how leadership can effectively be distributed through the activation of emergent leadership. Shauna is also very active in her professional association through mentorship and professional development and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
